Elnya Reserve visit-centre: master-class on felting souvenirs

On March 17-28, local community taught how to felt cute bird souvenirs for future eco-tourists during the training that was organized by the joint EU/UNDP project "Support to the development of a comprehensive framework for international environmental cooperation in the Republic of Belarus".
All participants were the locals: members of women club Bozhena, local social centre and library staff, teachers.
Overwhelming majority of all participants never had a chance to try themselves in felting art, but under the training they got knowledge of different types of felting, completed several tasks and finally made their first grey cranes. It was quite symbolic, because Miory (Vicebsk Region) is known in Belarus as a land of cranes and cranberries.
Second day of the training was dedicated to the eco-tourism souvenirs. As Yelnya Reserve strives for attracting tourist to Yelnya raise bog, locals were showed how to make simple and beautiful magnets with cranes and Yelnya bog image on it.
In the future, every local person can sell their unique magnets at visit-centre of Yelnya Reserve and every single tourist can acquire thematic souvenirs.
